A Retrospective Exhibition of 12 years of Serbian cutting-edge
art and graphics: ”Creating Something out of Nothing”
The FIA Art Group, a Serbian collaborative created a unique concept for artistic calendars at a time of turbulence, war and
isolation under Milosevic’s regime. For the first time the 12-year long project of Publikum Calendars will be presented to an
international audience in New York City at the ONE Club Gallery, starting Nov. 17, 2004.
“The extraordinary Serbian Calendars offer an incredible insight into this Eastern European contemporary culture. The Publikum
Calendars bring fresh, provocative visuals in both design and advertising concepts, worth inspiring the most jaded creatives
in America,” comments Mary Warlick, Executive Director of the ONE Club for Advertising and Design.
Publikum Calendar, one of the most authentic Serbian publishing projects has been featuring cutting-edge art, graphic design,
photography and illustration. Publikum Calendar was created as a medium of communication. This project managed to survive through
the hurdles of socio-political turmoil during the conflicts in ex-Yugoslavia.
From 1993 through 2004 works by more than 100 top Serbian photographers and designers were presented to the public in the highest
quality of print production.
